The Pupil Premium was introduced by the Government as a means of narrowing the 'achievement gap' between children considered disadvantaged and other children.

St Anthony's received £52,800 Pupil Premium Funding for the 2016-2017 financial year.

Schools receive funding not only for every child currently eligible for free school meals, but for every child who has been eligible for the previous six years, known as “Ever 6”.

 

The key barriers to future attainment for our children are:

  1. Develop reading skills and understanding.
  2. Spelling, punctuation and grammar skills limiting writing ability across the curriculum.

The money we received was used to provide extra Teaching Assistant hours, support from outside agencies and additional resources. This enabled the school to provide additional support for individuals and groups of children during the normal school day, in after school 'booster' classes and to access extra-curricular activities.

Through targeted interventions we are working hard to eliminate barriers to learning and progress. One of the schools aims is to ensure that all groups of pupils make good progress in order to reach age related expectations as they move through the school.

The Pupil Premium helps to ensure that all children can be involved in all school activities regardless of the financial well being of their families.

How we will measure the impact of the funding.

The Headteacher and Assistant Headteachers monitor the progress of all disadvantaged children to evaluate the impact of the additional support and this is reported to the Governing Body termly.

We use both internal and external data to measure the impact of the Pupil Premium Grant on our pupils’ learning. We review the effectiveness of the interventions we are using and adapt them to meet need when and where required.
